Multiplayer Difficulty Scaling, Current Events and Personal Rants
Hello. Nothing really going on just thought I should post something since it’s been over a month. I have been working on another WoW post but I’ve been busy playing WarCraft and not really wanting to finish it and half of it is probably obsolete anyway at this point so mehhhh. I will talk about it a little though just because there was something I just found out recently but uh yeah, I guess I’ll just get into that.
@NEETproxy and I have been playing WoW pretty regularly the last two months or so, whenever Midnight started, and I was hoping that @PoeTomic would join us at some point but he still hasn’t picked up Midnight so. Between doing delves and prey hunts I had figured we could join a PvP group and camp those crates that show up during War Mode but. So anyway, @NEETproxy and I have been doing the things, doing tier 11 delves and it goes alright. It’s easy as long as you pay attention and don’t stand in pee for too long but I was alone the other day so figured I’d do some on my shaman. I solo them on my priest from time to time but never really noticed anything odd but when I was playing on my shaman these things are a fucking joke. Got to the boss of one of them, whatever is up in Quel’Danas, and the boss only did his rotation once and Valeera murdered it. When @NEETproxy and I do it, it takes a little bit, but me on my own and *raspberry* dead. I hate how some games do scaling. I’m sure I’ve complained about it in Monster Hunter but like, if I solo something I should feel like a badass. Why on Earth would you take a multiplayer focused game, put in content that is easier to solo then it is to do with another person or two? Like if I can’t do a T11 delve then I should be in chat being like “hey, anyone need to do this or want to help?” Not “hey man, this is a little too tough with the two of us, I think I’ll just solo it because it’s easier that way.” ??? Like what? I remember seeing a girl on Twitter during Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate times that was fighting Hellblade Glavenus 10s solo (or whatever that was), no palico, just her and she would win. As far as I know that was before they started scaling hunts but it was inspiring. I aspired to be as good as her but now-a-days it just feels like they took the challenge away. I know they have stronger monsters, like, what are they? Arch-tempered. Um. Yeah, I don’t know, I’ve fought some I think? But I’m not sure. I do remember when they added Mizutsune to Wilds I think it was also tempered? Like it was basically a Violet Mizutsune with the fire and stuff? I don’t know, I feel like I specifically went out of my way to fight the hardest one I could because everyone was like “Oh my god this is great! Exactly what I wanted! Hard fights!” and @NEETproxy and I did it with little trouble and just like “Was this it? Did we do the right one?” I don’t know, it’s fucking dumb. They need to figure it out. Stop being so confusing with “threat levels.”
With things slowing down on WoW I’ve been doing some other things. I bought Monster Hunter Stories 3, I had played the demo a few months ago, it’s different, it’ll take some getting used to but I highly enjoy the art and the characters. I’ve started playing Metriod Prime 4 again and if they make another Prime where Samus is with other people, Federation soldiers or whatever they need to make her talk man. Or at least make some hand gestures, let me know there’s some comprehension going on behind that visor. She doesn’t need to be a chatter box but Christ. It’s just so weird for these people to be talking and asking questions and not getting even so much as a nod. Something else I just learned this morning was I CAN recenter the reticule when playing with motion controls by pressing ZR. I had complained earlier that the only way to recenter the cursor was by going into the map, point the joy-con straight and then close the map. Why did you not tell me that I could do that? There’s like tens of you that read this, so the stats say, one of you could’ve commented.
I’ve been seeing articles saying they wanted to make the next Halo game a battle royale but now they want to make an extraction shooter. I don’t know how either one of those works unless it’s a spin-off like Halo Wars or kind of like ODST even. I was wondering if Helldivers 2 is considered an extraction shooter because you know, you run around and shoot things then try to extract. Halo could very easily have a Helldivers clone, I think just about any franchise could have a Helldivers clone. I kind of want Splatoon to have one. Maybe that’s what the co-op mode of Splatoon Raiders will be. Who knows? But back to Halo; yeah I think at this point they’ve just missed the plot, they don’t have any idea what to do with that story anymore and it’s really too bad. But sure, chase the extraction shooter genre, those have been doing SO well lately, surely YOURS will be different and break through.
I know it’s a terrible thing to say but like, when’s the next Mario Kart? I don’t know I’m just not drawn to World. I feel like with Mario Kart Wii and even 8 they both made me want to play, even though I didn’t think 8 was all that different or not different enough from Wii I still wanted to play it. I don’t know I’m just not that interested to play it. If my friends say “Hey let’s play some Mario Kart” I’m not gonna say no but it’s not like “Man I’m bored, let’s play Mario Kart.” Like even if I’m bored I wouldn’t think to play World. I see people being like “If you don’t like driving between tracks then you’re doing it wrong” and then they’re doing all these crazy things. They’re just going then somehow they’re on a wall, flying through the air, skipping half the track, grinding on something, bouncing off more walls, like how the hell you get there guy? I’m surprised we haven’t heard anything about any DLC yet, characters or tracks. If they’re not going to put in Bowsette then the least they can do is add Wapeach. I love her concept.
That’s
more or less it. A couple other things that I didn’t know where to put; I’m
relatively certain I wrote this in one of my last posts about Monster Hunter
but maybe I only brought it up with the guys. (Aha, I DID bring this up
already, first paragraph of this post. I’ll just delete all this annd there.) The trading
post in WarCraft is kind of a disappointment this month. All I’ve been seeing
for the last month is “Oh we’re getting some sick Tauren themed stuff in the
trading post in the next patch. Blah blah blah.” The first rolls around and
it’s all a bunch of Gilnean crap. Cool. My subscription runs out at the end of
the month so I’m sure the Tauren stuff will show up in June. Just in time. Talking
about difficulty scaling and doing things solo; that’s kind of how I feel half
the time playing Helldivers 2. Sure it’s a team game and you’re on the map
together but more often then not everyone runs off to do their own things. Like
sure, divide and conquer but come on, shit’s crazy. Like why bother play
together if there’s no coordination? Makes it feel like a lonely experience. We used to do Helldive 10s exclusively
because you get the most medals there but it just isn’t fun for me. At that
difficulty I feel like I HAVE to take a certain loadout to be able to succeed
and I just don’t want to. I want to take different stuff and have fun. The last
time I was hosting I was trying to find a balance of fun and challenging. It
depends what’s going on with the planet too. A 10 on one planet is not the same
as a 10 on another.
There. Now I’m done. More of a rant maybe. So what do you guys think? What are your thoughts on difficulty scaling in multiplayers? Mario Kart World DLC; what would you like to see? Will we get a Nintendo Direct soon? Next month is “E3 month,” would we get a direct before then at this point? Oh yeah, are you gonna try to get a Steam controller? I’m gonna try. I’m curious if Steam will break like it did for Silksong. I’ll be at work so if I can even get onto the Steam store it’ll be a miracle. Anyways, let me know your thoughts with some comments and good luck trying to get a Steam controller. Bye-bye.
