Steam Deck and Indies

Image
Hello again. You. Oh youuuu. Yes! Hello! Alright, hi, the Steam Deck and indie games are impressing me at the moment. Some people are dismissing the Steam Deck or since they themselves don’t see its value think it’s a dumb thing and no one actually needs it. Nintendo Life and The Escapist both did great videos on the Steam Deck vs Switch and both bring up good points. Personally the Deck would be great for me. I bring my Switch to work and play it on breaks and in the past I often wished for a portable PC, not a laptop but something smaller. I’ve expressed my non-interest in gaming on my phone and with the Deck being basically a Switch, it seems perfect for me.             Something both Nintendo Life and The Escapist mentioned is that the Steam Deck could be a lot of peoples’ indie machine. I’ve double-dipped for indies on PC and Switch because I wanted to play them at work; Hyper Light Drifter and the Shantae games as examples. For some reason I feel like those ga

If I Made Breakpoint

It’s no secret by this point that I’m not the biggest fan of Breakpoint. It just seems to have gone in a weird direction BUT, if for some reason, in some alternate universe, if I was the/a person Ubisoft came to and said “make a new Ghost Recon with these parameters; The Ghost go to an island, drones take out the helicopter, no one can get off or on the island, the player character is trapped and hunted and must scavenge to survive.” I’d say “this sounds like Fallen Ghosts” and “this doesn’t sound like a Ghost Recon game anymore but, I’ll see what I can do.”             First I would keep the Wildlands look. I don’t know how long Ubi was working on Breakpoint but it came out 2.5 years after WL so I don’t know if there was overlapping development time or if they started work on BP right after WL but if they just kept the WL look that would have saved a ton of time, I imagine. Again, obviously, I’m not a developer; I don’t know how things work and why they decided to go

TC's XDefiant

Ubisoft showed us their new multiplayer game, Tom Clancy’s XDefiant . Honestly, they seem out of touch with their Tom Clancy audience. I knew the second I saw the TC logo trailer thing with all the graffiti art and spiky neon hair it wasn’t going to go over well. Tom Clancy fans typically want down to Earth, tactical, strategic games that border on simulation. In fact while playing Breakpoint recently I was trying to snipe; my target was over 100 meters away so I was trying to use the mil dots on my scope to get a clean shot but the mil dots don’t really work in Breakpoint. They work in Apex Legends though. I found that to be a little frustrating. I get that Ubi sees all the other kids in their sandboxes full of money and they want a piece of that pie too but that’s not what their audience is looking for. I think that’s partially the reason Rainbow Six Extraction got pushed back was because it’s getting too far away from the down to Earth element most of us love. Besi

Tom Clancy Games and Exclusives

Image
The reason I talk about Ghost Recon so much is because I’m a big fan of Tom Clancy games but GR is the only one that has really done anything lately. I was complaining a lot during the Xbox One era that Microsoft was doing shit for exclusives. They just weren’t putting anything out and I was in a funk with my current games and I thought to myself, “okay, so when was I the most happy while gaming? The 360 days. Okay, what did I play? Halo. Crackdown. Tom Clancy… Then what the fuck am I bitching about? Nothing’s changed!” So after that revelation I had a thought: I knew I didn’t really care about Sony’s exclusives but I didn’t realize I didn’t really care about Xbox’s either. I got a PS4 because SOMEONE couldn’t get an Xbox to play Monster Hunter World on so I did end up playing some of the exclusives that @NEETproxy lent to me because I had the thing so why not but even then I don’t think I would be missing anything if I hadn’t. Spider-Man is overrated as far as I’m concern

Fallen Ghosts

Image
Hello. It’s been a while. Let’s talk about Ghost Recon some more! I don’t know why I keep coming back to Ghost Recon, I’m sorry. T_T I thought I wrote this in one of my other Ghost Recon posts but apparently I didn’t or I can’t find it and that is: Ghost Recon Breakpoint is basically an expanded version of Wildlands’ DLC, Fallen Ghosts. I watched Predator recently and it made me want to play Wildlands again and Fallen Ghost is like fighting a bunch of Predators, aside from the actual Predator mission. But anyways.             Breakpoint and Fallen Ghosts  start off very similar. You’re going to a location in a helicopter, it gets taken out and you are being hunted. But in BP “hunted” is a loose term. Not very long after you start the game you meet a group of people in a cave that have all sorts of gear for you to buy and make you better. It’s the start of the game after all, so naturally you’d get better equipment the longer you play. Fallen Ghosts is the relative end
