WoW Times 8
Hello! I started this to just organize my thoughts on cross faction play better because, like usual, I don’t think I had communicated it well enough. I’m sure most people would understand what I want but I do see people online make some stupid claims and I don’t know if they’re being serious or just trolling but that’s how this started. I then was gonna bring up the one-button rotation thing a bit but then it just kind of snowballed so yeah, another WoW post but it’s mostly UI related. Things I personally would like changed or can’t believe hasn’t been integrated yet and then some random, personal character bullshit. Are you excited???
When
I say “cross faction play,” I’m not saying I want to be able to stroll through
Iron Forge on my Tauren and pick up baby quest in
Currently, to my understanding, you CAN party up with b.net friends no matter their affiliation but you can’t heal one another. You CAN have a pre-made group of 5 to run dungeons, but you can’t queue with less. As someone who likes to quest as a disc Priest and has one friend, sometimes two that play, I find that incredibly frustrating. Just let us be able to party together for quests, delves, dungeons and LFR. It would speed things up a great deal. I really like my Void Elf, my friend wants to play his Goblin, just let us. I COULD play my Blood Elf but I don’t want to. The Void Elf is cooler. It could even make interactions in groups funnier. Someone screws up and it can be all “leave it to a HORDE to die to [whatever]” even though the real reason was they’re just a mage doing mage things. Spread the love is all I’m saying.
Seeing some talk about the one-button rotation thing. People don’t like it, thinks it’s lazy, some guilds require you to use it if you suck, people with disabilities love it, ect ect. For an optional button, if you don’t like the concept, don’t use it. If your guild says you need to use it and you don’t want to, get better or find a new guild. I can see it helping people learn their rotations and then moving away from it. I wish it wasn’t so big and ugly. It’s this huge clockwise arrow on my already cluttered bar, make that go away. I understand I put it on my bar, I’ll get the idea when the icon changes on its own. I think it would be helpful for my resto Shaman since it’s only a few spells, I could use 2, 3 and 4 for something else. I went to set it up last night but with the new 11.2 patch it currently seems to be broken for everyone. Cool. The other thing is I wish you could customize it to remove certain spells. I don’t DPS in raids, I’ll quest in DPS and as such I don’t NEED to use Stormkeeper or my elemental EVERY fight. Things die quickly enough just let me take those out of the rotation.
Some things I’ve defiantly noticed in the past but had forgotten about, tried using lately and remembered the limitations; Mouse-over casting. Having it enabled and using it for healing in raids, great. Having it enabled and fighting more than one mob and your cursor is just hanging out on a random mob as you cast and it attacks them, not so great. I’ll have a mob selected, put flame shock on, go to lava burst as other mobs have now closed in and my lava burst doesn’t hit my selected target. Why? Oh, one of the other mobs moved to where my cursor is and I now have targeted them. Like, why would you do that? Why is that part of this option? I feel like that’s the thing with lots of these things is the idea is good but it’s not thought through enough. In this case, mouse-over casting needs two separate boxes; one for healing and one for attacking. Does anyone actually use it for combat?
Another minor annoyance is self-casting. If you have a friendly target selected you can change in the options by pressing shift, control or alt and the spell you want you will self-cast. One, a lot of people already use all three of those keys for their action bars and two, I don’t wanna. I have forever used an addon called RightClickSelfCast and it does just like it sounds. It’s super easy, it just makes sense and it’s hard to believe Blizzard hasn’t adopted it yet. The only issue I’ve seen with it is if I have a friendly targeted and I want to do Power Word: Shield or Earth Shield to myself it will still cast on my target. Personally, I could probably adept to using shift as my self-cast button but right click just makes more sense.
I would like my procs to be by my character please! If you have the “personal resource” thing checked you will see some things by your health bar as you cast but they’re not the things I want to see. All the buffs and such that are tucked away in the top right, I want those by my feet. You can keep the xp boost and bonus rep gain stuff up there but things like Earth Shield, Water Shield, Elemental Equilibrium, those things I want to be able to see quickly and not have to scan two or three bars of icons to try and find out if I have Earth Shield on or not. Like this circled bit. Stuff that tells me I should use a certain spell soon. These are the things I need to know! You can keep the rest of that junk up in the right. I tried moving that section down by my character, obviously it didn't work out so well. There’s some new option being rolled out and soon(?) to be updated to be customizable called Cooldown Manager or something. I doubt that will have the customization options I’m looking for, for this instance, but maybe once it’s out I can play with it. Maybe there’s already an addon for what I want, maybe I’ll have to ask Reddit.
Favorite mounts button! Why oh why is this not per character? Why is it tied to all of your characters? I like having my characters use mounts that are appropriate for them or that I earned with them. If that could be changed to a per character button then I would have more action buttons available. You know, for other dumb shit like pets and toys.
What else? Uhhhh, spell limits. I’ll see things on I think my liquid magma totem says it will only hit 8 mobs out of a pack, I think on my disc priest I can only have five characters affected by my atonement at a time and it’s like “fucking why?” Let us go nuts dude! The tank wants to pull the whole god damn dungeon let me liquid magma all of them, throw out primordial wave and just launch a ton of meatballs on the screen. I remember when I first was playing disc Priest in Mists that I thought if I did Holy Nova I would be able to put bubble shields on everyone but I think it’s limited to only five players. Kind of dumb in a raid situation, in my opinion. Let me cast Halo, everyone who is hit gets atonement and then are healed for the damage I do. “After five players the strength of the shield is less” why? Let us do stupid damage and crazy amounts of healing.
This past weekend I finally got all 1500 pieces of chitin for the cryptlord-ish mount. Went to turn it in and was like
“okay, where’s my mount?” and the guy is like
“oh, yeah, about that… I’d like 1000 venoms now.”
“Excuse me? Fuck. You.” Bunch of bullshit. I thought all I needed was the chitin T_T
Main Shaman (atm!!) I kept going back and forth between my Pandaren and Hightmountain Taruen. There are things I like with each but when I play one I just want to play the other. I’ve decided that the main issue is I’m too caught up in their transmogs and other minor things. I think I’ve mentioned before being hung up on such things but I decided, for the time being, to go back to my OG, had him since Vanilla, Tauren Shaman. Yayyyyy~ Pachi pachi pachi. The only thing with playing him now after playing Elves, even the female Tauren, is that he is massive. Even zooming out all the way he’s still the size of a normal character. It gets extremely annoying in buildings cause the camera is stopped by the ceiling I guess.
So that’s my WoW rant for the day what do you think? Do you know of options or addons that can help with some of the things I’ve brought up? Are there other quality of life things you would like to see added? With any luck (doubtful) someone from Blizzard will see this and try to implement some of them. I doubt I brought up anything new they haven’t heard about a million times but you never know! Also has sounded like Blizzard could use more people working on WoW. Obviously I don’t know what’s going on in there but more people is usually better, there’s a lot of stuff to WoW and a ton of things being worked on all the time I’m sure. I’m certain they could use more help. Anyway, that’s all for now, bye-bye!
