Power Rangers VS Street Fighter and/or Power Warriors/Musou

 

Hello! Like my Monster Hunter fighter idea I thought I should maybe talk about fighters I’d like to see in my hypothetical Power Rangers VS Street Fighter game but I don’t really know many Power Ranger squads. I don’t know when it was, a couple years ago at this point? I started watching Dino Fury on Netflix on the weekend mornings and thought “Hey, maybe I’ll start from the beginning and watch ALL the Power Rangers, then maybe even the Super Sentai shows too!” Well I haven’t gotten very far. I was watching Mighty Morphin but my god it is SO LONG. At some point I finally got to Zeo, more of the same, meh, then I got into Turbo and I was like “Okay, finally, new people, new setting, maybe this will be better” but it’s still the same fucking people! God damn. Within the last couple weeks I was looking online for the “good” Power Ranger shows and one person said they liked Turbo after the “power transfer” so I skipped some episodes and got to the new Rangers and it is better. The beginning of Turbo was just kind of dumb, it was all the same with a time bomb about to go off, the Rangers needing to find it, but I am enjoying Turbo a lot more now. I might watch it more often but still, I’m not very far into the series and I would also just like to get away from Angel Grove. Anyways, my Ranger knowledge is limited so I don’t have a lot to put here right now, you can help with adding Rangers or Street Fighter characters in the comments! (Which won’t happen because I never get comments!!!) Also had idea for a Power Rangers game while writing this, it’ll be after all the fighter stuff.

            So obviously there’d be some Might Morphin representation. Any of them would be fine, maybe after the rest of the roster is filled out they could see what kind of weapon would be more interesting to have and pick from the originals that way. I think Tommy as the Green and/or White Ranger would be good to have, always a fan favorite. In Turbo this character shows up called the Phantom Ranger and he’s pretty cool. Kind of a SWAT, motocross kind of look to him, I’d like him in the game. He uses cloaking so that could maybe be part of some moves where he cloaks but teleports behind the other character, or a certain distance. I really like Amelia from Cosmic Fury with her big ass hammer. Oh, that’s another thing to think about too is the colors, don’t want too many of the same colored Rangers about, probably. In Cosmic Fury Amelia was the Red Ranger so, something to keep in mind maybe (again, my knowledge of Ranger characters is very small atm). Lord Drakkon from the comics because he’s just cool. Also the Death Ranger from the comics because again, cool factor. Or is he a “they”? I can’t remember, I feel like I heard the story isn’t very interesting compared to how badass the Death Ranger looks but. I think Trey of Triforia from Zeo would be good too. I’m realizing I really like the “sixth” Ranger types. I'd like Lord Zed also, I think Void Knight and Mucus from Dino Fury would be fun too. I really liked Mucus, I think she’s funny.

            As far as Street Fighter goes, there’s all the usual mainstays, you know. Recently Capcom showed C. Viper coming to SF6 after not being in the games for a while. The only other character I know of that hasn’t been around in a long time is Hakan. He was in SF4 and he looks like he could be a Power Rangers villain. For me, the only characters I typically play are Juri and Ibuki so as long as they’re in the game, I’d be happy.

            As I’ve mentioned before, I’d like to see characters swap costumes like in Street Fighter X Tekken. I’d like to see Street Fighter characters with Power Ranger suits, look-a-like swaps with villains, Ibuki could have a Ninja Rangers costume. Ken and Cammy apparently also have Power Ranger suits as well as Ryu and Chun Li (Street Fight Rangers sure do like their Green Ranger chest protectors). The opposite is a little harder for me to visualize because making Rangers in a Street Fighter look or style is just going to make them look like they’re in their street cloths more or less. You can make Jason look like Ryu but it’s just kind of going to look like Jason when he teaches karate. Maybe that would be enough I guess, maybe just having the Rangers look like SF characters is enough, but also developers are creative. More creative then I could ever be. I thought they did a great job with SFxT. I love Cammy’s King look. Asuka’s ninja outfit, Lili’s Poison inspired look (I think?), Capcom’s take on Yoshimitsu and King. Also was really glad they used Yoshimitsu’s Tekken 3 look, just throwing that out there, but yeah. These people can make things work and I would just love to see what they come up with.

            Besides that, another thought came to my mind and I’m positive I’ve said that you could probably make anything into a Musou/Warriros game and now I think every franchise should just be obligated to make a Musou/Warriors game. How fucking sick and perfect would a Power Rangers Warriors game be? (Apparently there WAS a Power Rangers Musou for the Wii but it’s Japan only, boo.) You can literally take any Ranger or group and have any amount of normie cannon fodder enemies (Putties, Piranhatrons, Hengemen) with some of the mid-level bosses sprinkled in and just go nuts. There could be some Zord fights with one enemy at a time. Kind of like in Bowser’s Fury you have these moments where Mario fights the giant God Slayer Bowser or whatever he’s actually called. I’m still of the mindset that the first Hyrule Warriors was the best version of these Musou games. I’m not really a good authority on that statement seeing as I’ve only played Hyrule Warriors and Age of Calamity briefly but it’s that briefly part that’s important to me. Hyrule Warriors had a plot but it was very loose, it didn’t really matter, you picked a spot on the overall map, do an objective and were done. You had to get item cards to unlock things on the map and it was good. Just turn your brain off and go. Age of Calamity had too much plot for me, I wasn’t looking to have to pay attention to the story, I just wanted dumb, easy fun. I’ve wanted to play other Warrior games, Fire Emblem Three Hopes and Persona 5 Strikers but because of Age of Calamity I’ve decided not to, so far. If they had to pick a story for Power Rangers, the Shattered Grid makes the most sense but it’s also been done with the fighting game. Like, it just seems like the coolest plot I’ve heard for Power Rangers but it shouldn’t be used for everything, although a comic and a fighting game doesn’t SEEM like a lot but, I don’t know. I’M cool with it, I’d be fine with them using it again but maybe other people would like them to do something else and maybe they could. Maybe they could figure out a different plot to explain all these groups converging in one place. And again, they could use some of the more memorable villains as playable characters. I mean, there’s just SO much material they could pull from it’s not even funny. Even doing or dipping into Super Sentai like, damn. Speaking of Hyrule Warriors; where the hell is Linkle at? We need more Linkle! And Cia and Lana! Lana is really fun, I love her like, pop star/idol approach to being a mage or whatever she was. Linkle! Linkle! Linkle!.. Anyways. I’ve also noticed while playing Breath of the Wild on the Switch 2 and still playing Assassin’s Creed Shadows off and on that I really don’t like modern day combat. It pisses me off. I’m much more about the attack spam and holding the block button as long as I want.

            So that’s that I supposeeee. What do you think? Anything? Hmmmmm? What Rangers or villains or Street Fighters would you like to see in a Street Fighter VS Power Rangers game?
