Switch 2 Direct
Hello. The Switch 2 direct happened so I can talk a little about that, I’ll talk a little bit about Monster Hunter, probably stuff I’ve already said before and just something else I’ve noticed in games recently.
I’ll
start with the “something else” I guess since it’s quick. While bouncing back
and forth between different languages in MH Wilds I’ve noticed that the
characters lips match the words they are speaking, to my eyes anyway. Back in
the day the lips didn’t always match the words in games from
They showed Mario Kart World which looks pretty good. They’ve outdone my expectations, as they usually do. There are a lot of different outfits everyone can wear, from the looks of it, at the moment. I was just noticing a lot of odd ball enemy characters that just seem to be… there, basically t-posing. There’s a crab that’s just, there. A skeleton fish, a bumble bee thing, even Spike is… doing something. He’s just got a spike ball in his mouth, laying backwards, hands not even on the wheel. So I don’t know what that’s about, maybe they’ll be more animated in the final release but are all these characters getting costumes too? Wait and see. Common theme.
Donkey Kong Bananza looked okay I guess. I can’t say I’ve played any Donkey Kong’s so. I was thinking that the main playable character was maybe a different DK, like maybe Donkey Kong Jr. or Kiddy Kong cause he’s wearing pants but the title didn’t reflect that so, I dunno. A new Hyrule Warriors was shown. I wasn’t a big fan of Age of Calamity, it was just not as fun as the original. I think the plot just got in the way and I have a feeling the same thing will happen with this one. Original Hyrule Warriors was just, well an old fashion video game. Here’s your character, fight those things, fight all the things, THOSE GUYS NEED HELP, GET THAT FORT, AHHH! It was just hectic fun. I think the Warriors style suits the Imprisoning War scenario though, having a Breath of the Wild style just wouldn’t fit. Big armies, huge skirmishes, giant goat-men lasers, should be a fun time. Seen a little of Metroid Prime 4 but my one question hasn’t quite been answered; can I use motion controls? From the little bit I saw it seems like maybe? I saw a guy go from normal controls to mouse aiming to gyro while in scan mode and back to mouse mode soooo I’m assuming? I would assume I can use the joy-con like a wiimote.
One random surprise was Wild Hearts S. I half thought Capcom was throwing some shade at Wild Hearts calling the current game Wilds but I’m thinking Koei Tecmo is throwing shade right back. I think it’s cool that it’s coming out for the Switch 2, there’s currently a Monster Hunter void for Switch only players so they could find some success there. Well, people still need a Switch 2 but, anyway, we’ll see. I kind of hope they update the current game on PC and the other consoles though cause I’d kind of hate to buy it again but it runs like ass on PC and I don’t know if they even can due to some legal aspects with EA. It would be really nice if they had some future title updates for the game as well, that would really make me consider getting it. I mean, I’ll probably get it anyway cause I’m a stupid motherfucker. I do enjoy the gameplay of Wild Hearts, the weapon move sets are rather basic but they’re really fun. I find Wilds’ combat to be kind of boring to be honest. Doing some Sunbreak and man, it’s just a lot of fun. I really enjoy the surge slash combos of the greatsword. I love the last hit for the Y combo and the YB combo. It’s just more fun then, charge slash, roll, charge slash, true charge sh--got hit, roll. I do like the insect glaive better in Wilds though, I do find it more fun but being in focus mode and holding B to charge ALL the time can make doing other things complicated. I think part of it too is because we all know there’s going to be a “master” rank expansion so it’s like the game is unfinished. But Wild Hearts reemerging also makes me question; where is Xbox’s project suerte? Will that be shown off during the E3 season? Is it even still in development? I thought for sure we were going to have a bunch of MonHun likes out at the same time but so far no.
So
the elephant in the room right now is the price of the Switch 2 and the games.
Honestly I think the console is within reason. People are like “pleh, I’ll just
buy a PlayStation” like, you don’t have one yet? And also, and play what? Like,
clearly if you still don’t have a PlayStation then the games don’t interest you
that much. I buy Nintendo consoles for the Nintendo games, obviously. I think
$80 is a bit much for Mario Kart but also I bought Mario Kart 8. I bought 8
Deluxe. I bought the DLC tracks. How much is all that hm? Like probably over
$140. The amount of time I will play Mario Kart World justifies the price for
me (especially with the bundle). The other games, *shrug*, who knows? Metroid
4, probably worth it, Hyrule Warriors, iffy, Donkey Kong, probably worth it but
again, I’m not a Donkey Kong guy. But the thing people don’t seem to understand
or refuse to understand is that games cost a shit ton more to make now and the
developers get paid more than they did. Maybe their wages haven’t gone up at
the same rate as inflation but it doesn’t change the fact that they get paid
more. The fact that games have been at $60 for so long is a god damn blessing.
Back in the day $50 for a game was a lot to spend on a video game. People have
just gotten so used to $50 and $60 that it’s nothing to them. $60 is nothing,
they’d just burn $60 on games without even thinking about it but $70-$80 holy
shit, that’s too much friend-o. How am I supposed to choose having a bunch of
games I’m not going to play to a handful of games I might actually play cause
it’s all I can afford? For the most part, for me, it’s whatever. I don’t spend
a ton on games and typically only get things I really really want. Or think I
want and then they just sit there. The problem at the current moment for us in
the
So what do you have to say about all this? Anything from the Switch 2 direct got you excited? Let me know in the comments and I’ll be back sometime, bye-bye.
