World of ChillCraft

Hello. It’s me. AztecSauce. So I haven’t opened b.net in a long while but I’ve been bored so I opened it to see what was going on. I was immediately greeted with something for Hearthstone about the Lost City of Un’goro or something. The artwork looked cool, there was the Night Elf archeologist girl showing midriff, bein’ hot, so I was like “eh, I’ll take a look at this.” I install it, get in there, bombarded with a bunch of shit that I don’t understand, get rid of all that and start looking around. How do I play this game? I’m looking for this Un’goro thing, not finding it because you know, it’s a mobile game and all mobile game UIs are garbage. I think I found it but it looks like some kind of battle pass thing where you get points for playing and doing “quests” and stuff. Not really what I was looking for., but it made me think of WoW but like, I want a different kind of WoW. Maybe a more chill WoW. It’s kind of the same thing with Pokemon with how YOU’RE the most important person in this game world. You ARE the champion of Azeroth and it’s always some god awful world ending event you’re caught up in and I’m just tired of it. Let someone else be the hero, I just want to go chill by a pond.

I don’t know if this would be able to be considered “WoW 2” or more of a World of Hearthstone or something but I just would like the art of the game to be updated. The portraits of the NPCs and stuff still look like they’re from WC3. I really like the art of Hearthstone, I think the characters all look really fun and have so much more personality. I would like to see that in WoW. I know they’ve updated the character models once before but I feel like that what I’m thinking about it would just be easier to make a whole new game instead of redoing the art for absolutely everything. One thing that is always kind of annoying is how important NPC looks are inconsistent between their in game model, in game cut scene, splash screens and the full blown cinematics. Blizzard is always very good with their cinematics but then you see these characters in game and it’s like “huh, you’ve de-aged about 30 years.” I would just like the art to be more fun and stylized.

Side note: Started to dabble with WoW (right before Donkey Kong comes out, good timing I know) and noticed up top there’s a “Game Modes” tab that is “Coming Soon,” who knows what that is. Back to the main topic: I kind of would like this other version of WoW to be a little more like The Division 2 in terms of player interaction. I don’t know if that would make content easier to make or not but in The Division 2 you have little hub areas that players see each other in but once you go through a certain door, you’re alone. You can still see people ask for help and stuff and if you’re in a group you stay in that group and I would like WoW to do that. Or I’d like to see what it would look like. You could still see chat and people can still party up and join each others sessions. WoW right now is annoying with, I forget what it’s called, sharding? Where you’re in a server, doing your thing but then something happens and you might fall into a different server and things will spawn that you’ve just killed or you’ll lose your loot or whatever? It’s annoying. Another thing with this kind of set up is we could get rid of cross faction restrictions and again, I kind of think it would be easier to rebuild a game then try to implement this into WoW. Supposedly it’s hard to completely get rid of the factions or something but I have no idea. But yeah, get rid of the cross faction restrictions. My friend wants to play his Goblin, I really want to play my Void Elf. I can level my Blood Elf again but she doesn’t have the fancy fishing pole that lets you breath underwater and I did that rep grind like six or seven times, I don’t want to do it again. I think also that’s half the reason they have some of these allied races is so if you like playing Night Elf but also Horde then you can play the Nightborne and pretend! It’s like “We have Night Elves at home pookie.” But along with the no faction we could add new races for people to play. Ogres, Etherals, those weird bird people, the Taunka, whatever.

I want to enjoy the content the same way I kayak. When I kayak, I have my music playing, I paddle around a bit and then I float. I float for a while then paddle then I float again. It’s supposed to be chill, therapeutic. When I kayak with my wife she just paddles, paddles, paddles like she has somewhere to fucking go like, chill out. What’s the rush? I want WoW to slow back down. I don’t want to just burn through quest areas to get to the next zone or rush through dungeons because someone is on a tight schedule. I remember sometime ago being a forum or something and asking “why all the rushing?” and someone said “well, some people don’t have a lot of time to play” and it’s like, then find a different game. You don’t have the TIME to do this then don’t do it. I like the old days where you HAD to stop because everyone, or at least the healer, would be out of mana. I want to quest at a leisurely pace, crawl through dungeons, gather materials one at a time.

Recently they’ve added an option for a one-button-rotation button so it will automatically pick the next best move the game thinks you should use so you just get to sit there and press 1 over and over again. I don’t know how I feel about it. For healers I think it will be helpful. You have enough to worry about you shouldn’t have to worry about DPS also but for DPS classes, I’m not sure. Like, if you have so many buttons to press that you need a one-button button then we have too many buttons. On my elemental shaman it would replace like 12 buttons. That’s crazy. I miss the old days when each spell had a purpose and it wasn’t so much about a rotation of damage to do. Lightning bolt was your main attack, flame shock was your damage over time, frost shock was to slow people down if they ran away from you and earth shock, I think, used to be the interrupt spell. (KISS, Keep It Simple, Stupid) Now it’s a lot of -cast this before that so that does more damage and remember to cast this one every third time you cast that one and- It’s a bit much. In one of my other posts I mentioned how DPS classes are pretty lax. Not only do healers and tanks have their own roles to do but they also have to pick up the DPS’ slack. Anyone gonna interrupt this guy? No? NO? Alright, I’ll do it. Not busy or anything… You’re standing in the purple you stupid fuck… I almost feel like the classes need an overhaul of some kind. Let tanks and healers worry about what they need to worry about and make DPS fucking do something.

I know there’s a lot of casual content in the game but often times I feel pressured to rush through things to get certain things done and I don’t like that. I don’t like coming into the game after a week of work and be like “Okay well, what’s on my to-do list THIS week?” There’s a lot to do if you’re trying to keep up with the current content that a lot of the time I’m not even paying attention to what I’m doing. I’m just going through the motions to get to the next thing I need to do. I don’t want to feel rushed, I want to enjoy myself.

So I don’t quite know how to make this work. I feel like there’s a bigger casual crowd then the hardcore players. I think there’s less big raiders and PvPers then there are transmog hunters and role-players. It’s got to be hard to make a game like this for “everyone.” I would prefer a more stripped down version. Don’t have to worry about factions, everyone can play what they want. More races to pick from, maybe even more options for the characters like a height and weight adjustment. The smallest Tauren could still be bigger than the largest Human. Delves, world quests, special events like the jousting tournament in Icecrown or the island thing in Battle for Azeroth, maybe not even different difficulties of dungeons and raids. There IS a lot in WoW, and it must be hard to keep everything functioning, pretty sure I was doing a world quest today that was broken but that’s kind of why I think it needs a revamp or to be rebuilt. (Had been trying to get a chest piece for transmog. Had to do a chain quest to get an item to unlock a boss in a dungeon only for that boss to be bugged. Apparently it has been bugged for quite a while. Neat.) New art with more personality and more streamlined gameplay. I don’t know. I don’t know what I’m talking about anymore and I don’t know what the right answer is. I’m tired. You get the idea. Getting rid of faction restrictions is the biggest thing for me. Sure you and your friends can kind of quest together but you can’t heal each other and certain things don’t count for the both of you. As someone who likes playing disc priest and resto shaman, even while questing, it’s annoying I can’t heal my tank friend. You want factions for of PvP and high end raids, fine, fine, whatever. Update the art and maybe make it more like The Division 2 where there’s no one else in my game unless I want them there. Doing quests, especially old content, when there’s only X amount of mobs that drop whatever you’re looking for and there’s a handful of people doing the quest and making it impossible to get said drop is incredibly frustrating.

So that’s my spiel today. What’s your thoughts? What do you think about getting rid of factions for casual and lower tier content? Are there any other changes you would like to see in WoW? I’ve been trying to play Hearthstone recently and there’s a like, mercenary mode I think it’s called and I quite like that so far. It seems less complicated then regular Hearthstone so it’s fun for the moment. The art for the characters is really fun though. It’s nice to see characters and even mobs in different ways. I guess just in art in general since we basically see the same models of mobs throughout expansions. Raptors still look, move and behave like they have since Vanilla but in Hearthstone at least the art seems, I don’t know, fresh? Refreshing? I remember complaining in one of my other WoW posts about how for farseer shaman, my Highmountain’s ancestors have multiple different raid sets they wear but the Pandaren still seem to be locked in that T2 set. It’s a good set but I just don’t understand why other races have multiple different ones but the Pandaren don’t. How hard is it to make them have the other sets? Are other races affected by this? I also do NOT like what they’ve done to ele shaman. I was trying to play and things are different, it was just gross, I don’t know. I’ve also been really aggravated with my action bars, I don’t know where to put things, it always looks like a jumbled mess and how many fucking different healing moves do mistweaver monks need?? Maybe one day I’ll sit down and try to figure out how to monk. Okay, ranting over, all done, bye-bye! Leave me comments! BYE!
