Conquest Conquered

Hello… I’m back… I finally did it… I finally beat another Fire Emblem… I stuck with Conquest and just got done with it though I did have to restart once. I ended up having to look online for a guide, especially for the beginning and look for some tips because I was technically playing it super wrong.

When I started my first run I was doing Normal/Casual I believe because I really hate going through a whole mission to lose someone right at the end and have to start the whole damn thing over. Overall I thought I was doing okay, everything was a little over my level but, *shrug* ehh? It was at Chapter 17 that I hit a wall, there were just SO many units here and it was not working out. I saw before entering the level I could change the difficulty and saw “Phoenix” mode and was like “What’s that?” If your unit is defeated they come back the very next turn, I don’t want to be THAT guy. So I was looking online and basically everything I would do in Awakening is something I shouldn’t do in Conquest. I was kind of trying to level my group up all together which I really shouldn’t be trying to do since missions and exp are limited. I should’ve focused on a small, core group. I should use the overpowered sibling units and I should’ve leveled Mozu as soon as I got her. Mozu is a village girl you rescue and joins your group but in Awakening there’s a village kid named Donnel and he has to get to level 10 before he can digivolve, did not know Mozu was not under the same restrictions so exp I was getting for her was technically wasted. I was reading a guide for Chapter 17 and the writer was like “Oh yeah my Mozu is nearly 20 now!” and I was like “HOW THE FUCK IS SHE ALMOST 20????” So that’s when I found out she could change into an archer early on. Something else I was doing to was just trying to complete the missions as fast as possible. I think that might’ve been ingrained in my head from 40k Mechanicus maybe where as in Conquest(/Fire Emblem in general?), unless the game says “Do this is X amount of turns” it didn’t matter how long you took, get that exp!

So I restarted the game, this time I did Normal/Classic but then found out in Classic you can’t battle save which kind of annoyed me, so I went back to Casual. With reading the guide and getting a better understanding (kind of?) of what units work on what, I was doing better. By the end of it though I had a lot of people on horses and like, no real, GOOD magic users. I didn’t make everyone have kids, I would just pair people up and if they had a kid I would do their mission for the extra exp. I remembered in my first play through, when the game came out, I saw this chart of all the characters and who is whose kid and whatever and I saw Forrest (or Foleo in the charts case?) and I was like “Ouu, this one.” Forrest is a femboy so looks like a girl but is a guy. When I saw this I wondered if you had a male character could they get together. I had made a female but I think I saw the chart fairly early so I would restart for a male character but it turned out you couldn’t. I remember being bummed at the time and might’ve been part of why I stopped playing actually. But this time around I made my girl get with Forrest and they were cute as fuck!

So I progressed through the game and towards the last few chapters, the writer of the guide was like “another map where we split our group up” to get the most exp and I’m looking at the map and I’m like “Do I even care enough?” I was almost done; I did NOT care enough, everyone, go to the right! So I ended up finishing it with some hiccups. The story kind of ended weirdly, Azura disappears and reappears to disappear again? It’s kind of odd to split this story into 2, maybe even 3 parts? I’ll have to look up a summary or something online later to find out what the hell is going on.

So that’s done, now I want to get into one of the other ones. I think I’m going to try to do Engage, I see everyone say Three Houses is more fun or their favorite but I’ll get to that one eventually. Monster Hunter is coming out soon, and there’s a Pirate Yakuza game coming out? Coming out of nowhere. I saw the trailer and was like “This is just Assassin’s Creed 4 but better, I need it.” I’ve not played a Yakuza game before, @NEETproxy has played most if not all of them and enjoys them. I’ve seen trailers and such and they just look ridiculous and apparently this Pirate one isn’t just boats and shit, it’s a regular, crazy Yakuza game. I watch the trailers and I’m like “Wow, what a video game.” Kind of like Exoprimal you know? Like this is the crazy kind of goofy shit video games are meant to be. I don’t know if I’ll be able to make any progress in it or Fire Emblem or Monster Hunter for that matter, I might just get overwhelmed and not do anything. The new MH Wilds character creator simulator came out so I’ve messed around with that a little.

But anyway, I should go, what have you been up to? Any tips you can give me for Engage? Do you plan on playing the Pirate Yakuza game or Monster Hunter at the end of the month? Leave me a comment and I’ll see you around next time, bye-bye!
