Wish List 2021 Part 2
I don’t know if this counts as a “Wish List 2” or not. I do post randomly throughout the year of things I think would be fun and I really don’t want to sit on this for a whole nother year. (Internet tells me “nother” is a real word so it’s gonna stay.) So! I’ve got two kind of random game ideas that don’t have anything to do with each other.
@NEETproxy and I finished Netflix’s Arcane recently. Neither of us are into League of Legends at all. I remember first seeing the trailer for Jinx and thought it was its own game then we watched it together and at the end LoL shows up and we both were like “what?” But Arcane is really good and a lot of fun. The whole thing reminds me of Dishonored, steampunk-ish with a little bit of magic thrown in. While watching the show it was like “man, I want a game where you just punch people like Vi.”
I try to go back into Dishonored but it’s like, I’ve done it, quite a bit and I lose interest really quick. Cyberpunk 2077 has some “brawler” aspects but it’s pretty much *punch, punch, strong punch.* I’m looking for a bit more. I’d like a first person brawler type game. I think of it similar as Dishonored but more punch punch and less stab stab. I’d like to do combos, I’d like to have real fights between one or several opponents at a time like with blocks and counters and such, not exactly one hit I win sort of things. Kind of like Mirror’s Edge Catalyst in a way now that I’m thinking of it. I have this imagine in my mind that if you’re up against someone with a gun and you Doom Eternal forward dash right before they shoot, you run at them real low, under the bullet and come up with the options of an uppercut or disarm them or leg sweep or something. There could be easier enemies that go down in one or two punches but I want to knee people in the face and bounce their heads off of walls like Vi does in the show.
My next idea came from this image of Rosa with a tennis racket. I’d like to see Pokemon sport themed games. I know that’s usually Mario’s turf but I’m kind of bored of Mario and the gang. Like if the game doesn’t have a few oddballs I’m not that interested. Mario Party Superstars for instance, it has all the normies, where’s my Shyguy? Where’s my random enemy that’s never in anything like the mole? Where’s Bowsette? I’m pretty over the other Mario themed games. Mario Kart is great when it’s done right and I do enjoy Mario Tennis which has a very interesting roster but it just makes me think that they should mix it up a bit with Nintendo’s other franchises.
Pokemon has such a huge roster of trainers that get overshadowed by their Pokemon, it would just be nice to see them more I guess, outside of porn. There is one lady in the Elite Four (or whatever they call it) in Sun and Moon who is a golfer, so they DO have sports in the Pokemon world. Tennis is the first sport game that comes to my mind, probably because I do enjoy Mario Tennis Aces so much. I mean, basically that’s it, Pokemon Trainers playing sports. You could use Pokemon I guess but I’d rather just see the trainers. Do Pokemon have to show up in a game like this? Maybe. I don’t know if there should be some weird support system or if on certain courts there’d be different Pokemon type hazards or they just exist in the background. Maybe every now and then, when a meter charges or something, you could select a Pokemon to do a move. Similar to Pokken Tournament and the star shots in Aces. Some Pokemon could use smog or haze to make it harder to see, seems a little cheap. So yeah, I don’t know. I think it’d be fun too to see Jesse and/or James in some “disguise” so they could participate as well.
Another sport type game I’d like to see is disc golf. I was a little sad when they decided to go with standard golf in Super Rush and not branch out a little. I really liked the disc golf thing in Wii Sports Resort and playing catch with the dog, that was good, I’d enjoy more of that too.
So whatcha thinking? Sound good? No? Are there other franchise you’d like to see do some sport game? Is there anything else Pokemon could do for a sport? Are there any brawler type games that I don’t know of that might be what I’m looking for and should check out? Comment below and I’ll catch you when I catch you.
